This is a very organized open jam. While it is open to everyone, the best way to be involved is to sign up ahead of time. The initial signup decides which songs will be played at the jam. Most jams can only support around 22-23 songs. If our initial signup nets us more than 23 songs, some submissions will be cut. This is done by random, luck of the draw.
Step one:
A jam will "drop" approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the date of the performance. This is when the songs that will played at the jam are selected by those who sign up in the initial drop. These drops are open all weekend, from Friday morning - Monday morning. Each person is allowed to sign up for 1 or 2 songs from our massive song list.
Step two:
You will be notified by email that your submission was received. On the Monday after submission, you will be notified if your songs got in. The selection process begins with random selection, using AI, to reduce the list of submissions to the number we can get through in one night. In fairness, if anyone was left out, we will try to make space for everyone to have at least one song. If submissions are so many that it is not possible, you will be notified that you are on a waiting list to get in, if anyone cancels. If you do not get in one week, you will be guaranteed a spot in the next jam, if you choose to sign up again.
Step three:
Once the songs have been chosen for the jam and everyone has been notified, the full list of songs will be put out for fill-in positions on the blog. There will be a form there to select 1-2 songs per instrument. You are allowed a maximum of 3 songs performed in total. This includes backing vocals. Again, we want to allow everyone a chance to perform at least a song or two. You will be notified if you've gotten the fill-in spots as soon as possible.
Step four:
Practice! Your bandmates are also excited to play live and are counting on you to do your best. If you have any questions on the song arrangement, or key/tuning, contact us and we can clear up any questions.
